Nepal – From Crocodiles to Yaks, Chris Beynon

For his third trip to Nepal, Chris couldn’t resist cycling a route that covered a cross-section of the country. It headed south-west through the foothills from the Kathmandu valley down to the plains by the Indian border and the Chitwan National Park (here be crocs). It then headed north-west back through the foothills to Pokhara and then via an exciting flight up to the high Mustang valley and the Muktinath temple at 3700m (here be yaks).

Nepal is one of Chris’s favourite destinations with interesting culture, friendly people, and of course, the occasional mountain to cycle up – and down.

It was also good to see continued repair and reconstruction of World Heritage listed sites in the Kathmandu Valley that had been damaged or destroyed in the 2015 earthquake.

Chris has always regarded cycling as the best way to see a country, and has cycled in ones as diverse as Bolivia, Ethiopia, Bhutan and Kyrgyzstan.
