Faced with anxiety and depression, Charlie took the “black dog” for a long walk across America on the Pacific Crest Trail His 2650-mile trek along the Pacific Crest Trail took Charlie through the heart of the American wilderness. He crossed deserts, climbed mountains and traversed snow fields, facing treacherous river crossings, dangerous wildlife and brutal weather conditions. 135 days after setting off from Mexico, he finally finished his long walk at the Canadian border, 15 kilograms lighter and having raised over £3000 for mental health.
Charlie Knight is an adventurer, endurance athlete and mountain leader, always on the hunt for the next big challenge. A former marketing manager, a battle with mental health led Charlie to quit the nine-to-five to fulfil his dream of walking across America.
Currently training as a mountain leader, Charlie has also trekked the length of the Pyrenees, cycled from Gibraltar to London and recently returned from a 150-mile, seven-day ultra-marathon across the Atacama Desert in Chile. Charlie’s own website can be found here.
